Milage is calculated using a formula.
e = a ( 1+t+r )
where..
e = estimated milage
a = actual milage
t = 1 ( if the engine is below operating temp ) Otherwise it's 0
r = .5 ( if the engine is operating above 4500rpm ) Otherwise it's 0
Example.
If you drove your car for 10 miles below operating temp and above 4500rpm, the service interval computer would calculate that 25 miles were covered.
a = 10 miles
t = 1
r = .5
e = 10 ( 1+1+.5 ) = 25.
Ok so a car would warm up in 10 miles, it's just an example.
Another example is:
If you drove your car at 5000rpm for 10 miles at normal operating temp, then
a = 10 miles
t = 0
r = .5
e = 10 ( 1+0+.5 ) = 15.
