AC Schnitzer GP3.10 gas powered V10 coupe
Committed to upstage its rival G-Power, AC Schnitzer has developed a BMW 3-series coupe powered by the M5/M6 V10 running on LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). Scheduled to be unveiled at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the new design study is in keeping with the show’s theme of power through economy and ecology.
Capable of running on both petrol of LPG, the 5.0L V10 has been massaged to develop 552hp (406kW) and peak torque of 540Nm. The decision to go with LPG was to demonstrate that with the right modifications, any petrol engine can run on the more sustainable and cleaner fuel. Performance is still brisk, with 100km/h passing in just 4.5 seconds and 200km/h taking 13.9 seconds.
Being a show car, AC designers weren’t about to neglect the rest of the coupe’s features. At the front, eight-pot fixed calliper brakes with perforated and vented discs were fitted, while the rear gets a small four-piston set-up. Dynamics is improved with a height adjustable racing suspension and sway bar developed on the Nürburgring. For the body, larger air intakes, chrome ribs and side vents, wheelarch extensions and a rear diffuser all make the cut.
