You also need a cable that extends the thin signal lead that originally goes to the trimble (GPS unit)- a 2mm o/d coaxial cable commonly used by specialist radio and audio people. It seems to be used for DAB radio aerials and has, so-called, "SMB" connectors. You'll need a 2m length, with a male connector at one end and female at the other. It took a while to work out what I needed but I eventually found "DAB aerial extension cable 2 metre" on ebay for £5 including post - from the seller Sonusaudio (Sonus Wholesale Audio Products), Norwich UK 01603 760867. This is a lot cheaper than using the 2900mm BMW part 61128372410 (£26) that requires fitting all the way from the screen to the DVD SatNav in the back corner of the car.
